I felt that Destructo was a lot more serious than I usually make, and I decided with
The, I'd return to Evil Eye's natural playfulness, but honing my new experimentation with loop-based music. It's one of my weirdest and most fun LPs,
and a personal favorite.
I was still learning how to make "music" at that point (as opposed to just noise), but I learned a very important thing while working on
The: How to time-stretch and compress so that all my loops match up. That may sound quaint nowadays, but back then it was a big deal. I only did this on a few tracks on the album (I didn't start doing it regularly until
On a Mission from Skull a year later) but this album planted the seeds for my later musical growth
and learning that technique had a huge effect on my future music.
